SAP R/3 or SAP ECC Reporting Limitations

1. SAP R/3(OLTP) offers a collection of more than 2700 powerful and flexible business reports. These reports are spread across several applications. Navigating through several multilevel menus to fetch a particular set of reports is a time consuming process.   2. Several reports are designed(delivered by default) to meet operational or transaction needs only.   3. Most of the reports are predefined, list oriented & provides very limited OLAP functionality.   4. Several business applications and their associated reporting tools make it hard to select a specific reporting tool.   5. These reporting tools are inconsistent, designing & creating a report is a complex process.   6. Maintenance of thousands of available reports for software upgrade (VERSION UPGRADE) is a complex task.   7. Knowledge of how often a particular report is used are every period is not available.   8. As a consequence( Consequently) all reports are need to be maintained

MDX

Definition MDX (multi-dimensional expressions) is a language developed by Microsoft for queries using multi-dimensional data. An MDX expression returns a multi-dimensional result set ( dataset) that consists of axis data and cell data. The syntax of multi-dimensional expressions is defined in the Microsoft specification OLE DB for OLAP. Structure The following table gives an overview of the most important components of MDX statements: MDX Component Significance FROM Cube selection SELECT ON COLUMNS ON ROWS Axes definition Definition of column axes Definition of rows axes WHERE Filter conditions definition Example 1: The following example of a MDX request contains the above elements: SELECT { [Measures].[CKF_SI_PROFIT], [Measures].[0D_DOCUMENT], [Measures].[0D_OORVALSC] } ON COLUMNS, NON EMPTY [0D_PLANT].MEMBERS ON ROWS FROM [0D_SD_C03/SAP_DEMO_OLEDB] WHERE ( [0CALMONTH].[200101], [0D_COUNTRY].[US] ) The following graphic shows this exa

Difference Between Crystal Reports and Web Intelligence Reports / BEx Analyzer Vs Excel OLAP Vs BO Analysis Edition for MS Office.

Crystal Reports is under SAP’s Crystal Solutions product portfolio while Web Intelligence is under SAP’s Business Objects Web Intelligence line. Crystal Reports is best for highly structured reports while Web Intelligence is suited for ‘unstructured’ reports. Crystal Reports has an advantage when the presentation and formatting of the report is of the highest concern. Crystal allows for pixel perfect, high fidelity reports, and allows the report developer more control of the presentation and data access. Crystal reports take a bit longer to develop, and require a higher understanding of database design and logic. WebI reports is the better solution when the report needs to be developed quickly and will be developed by a Business User. Crystal Reports is the better solution when the report presentation is of the highest concern, and the report can be developed by an IT Developer of Business Power User. Crystal Reports can’t have more than one report in it. Like in BO reports we

@Prompt in BO like Variables in SAP BI/BW

Prompt is a function in BO, that is used to get report containing specific data or Dynamic selection of data. Specific to what prompt values have the user entered. A prompt could be given in the query panel while editing the data provider for the report. for ex, if a prompt has been added in a column say "balance" ,and the prompt asks for which date the user wants to see the balance, then the user can either on its own put a value or he can also select value/values from the list of values. For eg: @prompt('enter the value for the year','A','class/object',mono,free) By using this the BO will ask the user to enter the year based on the value of year the query will be executed. ---------------------------------------------------- For most of us the @Prompt function syntax can be a bit confusing at first. Sure we catch on quickly, however, we often need to review the business objects @Prompt syntax available online or refer to a previousl

Fix : BODS Designer - Reset Users

Make sure you are in correct user and go with Continue option to go for current login, which can prevent the already logged on User.

SAP Businesss Objects - Data Integrator / Data Services

SAP Business Objects DI/ DS is not just an ETL , helps for operational reporting using Universes in BO. Heterogeneous applications can be connected and Extracts, Transform & Loading Data from one/more sources to one/more destinations. Applications can be most of the DBs , WS , DW , BI, SAP R/3, ECC , SAP BI Cubes, XML.....etc. Data Can be Migrated to heterogeneous systems by scheduling jobs, Real -Time Jobs. It can support for typical Slowly Changing Dimensions and type of schema.

Can we have RSA1 in display mode?

Yes this is possible. You will have to create a role that contains display only authorizations for the content you want the user to see. We have Information Technology (IT) Application area specific roles that allow, for example, IT FI (Finance) support people to see only their specific FI model pieces. For example the role would contain access to s_tcode RSA1 and the following activity "03=display" for infocube data display for all infocubes in FI specific infoareas: Manually Data Warehousing Workbench - InfoCube S_RS_ICUBE Manually Data Warehousing Workbench - InfoCube BW:FIITSUP00 Activity 03 ACTVT InfoCube Subobject DATA RSICUBEOBJ InfoArea 0ECPCA, 0FIGL, 0FIGL_IO, ZFI*, ZWE_FI* RSINFOAREA InfoCube * RSINFOCUBE Depending upon what is contained in the models you want the user to see, you will need to define access under some of all of the following: Data Warehousing Workbench - Objects S_RS_ADMWB Data Warehousing Workbench - Hierarchy S_RS_HIER
